Michael Cook, President of Maryland Telephone, recently shared with us how being an Accelerent Partner has contributed to their success.

How Accelerent helps build business

Since 2009 we have gained about $2 million in new business from relationships made possible through Accelerent. In addition, we have given at least $250,000 to other Accelerent Partners.

Keys To Success In Accelerent

Meeting one-on-one with our Accelerent Partners so that you can learn what’s important to them personally and professionally. Understanding their target market, who they want to meet and the right time to make an introduction. We have had great success by getting as many people as possible in my own company involved in the events and have them build their own relationships.

Advice for Other Accelerent Partners or Prospective Accelerent Partners

Meet with as many Partners as you can, as quickly as you can. Attend the events and bring guests when applicable. Year after year our Accelerent partnership continues to produce a return on our investment, as well as new relationships, that I know will be lifelong friends.

Family owned and operated in Baltimore, MD since 1919, Cole Roofing has been focused on solving problems for their customers and providing meaningful employment for their team members. From their first gutter job to the newly developed and installed solar integrated roof systems, they continue to reinforce their trusted reputation throughout the architectural and construction communities. Bill Cole, President of Cole Roofing and Pfister Energy, recently shared with us how Accelerent has contributed to their success.

How Accelerent helps build business:

Pfister Energy was introduced to a solar industry player at an Accelerent Evening Reception through CohnReznick, one of our Accelerent Partners. From that introduction, a long-term relationship was formed that helped Pfister solve an immediate client project financing issue. The relationship with this solar developer has led to a growing number of solar projects! Pfister also met a contact at an Accelerent Breakfast who after more than 2 years turned into our largest single location job to date.

Advice for prospective Partners:

Morgan-Keller Construction (an Accelerent Partner) provided Cole with an opportunity to service 4 properties in Frederick, repairing various roofing issues. They then introduced us to a local credit union and we performed 11 roof inspections, completed 6 repairs, and are working with them to hopefully perform a roof replacement project. United Way of Central Maryland (an Accelerent Relationship) introduced us to a local Property Manager generating 2 large repair jobs. Fidelity Engineering (another Accelerent Partner) has been an on-going collaborative partner which I believe will only grow over time.

Cole Roofing’s Service team also frequently benefits from connections made in Accelerent. There are almost too many small projects to name that have come from our Accelerent partnerships. We benefit most every month in at least some small amount of service work, and often in either larger service projects, or a new and valuable ongoing relationship with a property owner.

Having the “give to get” mindset is core to our company culture. This provides us with exponentially more personal satisfaction when we can help a Partner make a connection or help our client solve a problem by referring a Partner. No time is spent keeping score in our company, we freely and aggressively look for ways to help.

Advice for other partners or prospective Partners:

For us, success in Accelerent is defined by growing the number of like-minded businesses we connect with. Building a relationship with a business leader who gets as much personal satisfaction as we do from helping others allows us not to worry about how our time is spent. We are confident that this work towards a common goal of helping one another will lead us all to success. As Andrew Carnegie once said, “Do your duty and a little more and the future will take care of itself.” Combine the desire to help with hard work and tenacity and we are confident we can be a good Partner to all.

The pathway to achieving this success starts with participation. Attending as many environments as they provide and getting to know what our Partners do, is critical. You are more apt to find good matches between your relationships and fellow Partners when you understand what separates them from the competition and consistently ask what is their biggest current challenge.

Bluewater Advisory’s talent management and business consulting services are always value-driven and unique to the company they are serving.

From hiring for one position or optimizing an entire organization, Bluewater is laser-focused on cost-effective solutions. Mark Debinski, Founder and President of Bluewater Advisory, and Managing Director of Bluewater Search, recently shared how being an Accelerent Partner has contributed to their success.

How Accelerent helps build business:

At Bluewater, we aim to provide an ROI of at least 10 times the investment of our clients. As such, we also expect to achieve the same measure for our investments. We are thrilled to have reached our 10x threshold each of our five years as an Accelerent Partner. We are also proud to have provided a 10x “give multiplier” within the network. One of my favorite things is to find unique ways to provide value and strategic referrals among Accelerent Partners.

Advice for other partners or prospective partners:

Simply put, “being there and being real.” And that goes for all of Bluewater’s team members. We can choose to look at an evening reception or breakfast event as an Outlook calendar item, or we can approach it strategically and attend with purpose and in the giving spirit of Accelerent. Dave Hartman instilled this in me at an informal lunch a few months into our membership, and it was one of the most valuable pieces of advice toward our success within the Accelerent Partnership.

Two additional quotes also come to mind. “Rome was not built in a day,” meaning it takes time to develop deep, trusting relationships. Success in Accelerent is a marathon, not a sprint. Lastly, to borrow from a favorite scripture, “To those who have been given much, much will be expected.” My point is, we are so fortunate to work in an environment such as Accelerent, we must embrace the “Give to Get” culture in order to fully experience the opportunities the partnership presents.

Founded in 1946, Acme Paper & Supply Co., Inc. has been a staple in the food service industry for over sixty years.

Acme Paper’s wide array of expertise, including disposable catering supplies, major cooking equipment, retail packaging as well as janitorial solutions, allows them to create cost effective solutions to solve clients’ problems. Andy Attman, Vice President, recently shared how business has grown since they became a Partner three years ago.

How Accelerent helps build business:

In three short years as part of Accelerent Baltimore we’ve received over 20 new opportunities. That has equated to over $180,000 in sales over the last 12 months alone. We are working on a potential of $500,000 worth of additional annual business as well.

The key to growing the business really falls onto giving out opportunities to our Partners. We have given out slightly more than a 1-1 ratio in possible business connections but I am striving to be closer to a 2-1 ratio. The movie Pay it Forward illustrates the Accelerent philosophy well. It’s nice to give to those that gave to you but in this world, it’s about giving in general. If you give, the giving circle will find its way back to you.

Advice for other Partners or prospective Partners:

Get together with Partners in a one on one environment. I believe this is the most important way to start building a personal relationship. Once people are comfortable with you, they will be more comfortable sharing their relationships with you.
